⚠️ Attention : It's a long and demanding ride. You need to be in good physical condition and well prepared. In summer, high temperatures make the effort more difficult, hence the importance of good equipment.
Itinerary Précis du Sentier Blanc-Martel
1. Departure from Chalet de la Maline
Departure is from the Chalet de la Malinea refuge high above the Gorges du Verdon. Right from the start, a steep descent takes you down to the canyon, joining the river after a few metres. 30-minute walk.
The path then alternates between shaded sections under the vegetation and open sections offering great views. superb views of the cliffs.
2. Descent towards the Verdon and Pas d'Issane pass
After 2 km walkThe path follows the Verdon as closely as possible, crossing several scree slopes and rocky areas. Visit No Issanea spectacular passageway overlooking the river, where you can admire the cliffs of more than 700 metres high.
The path then continues uphill and downhillpunctuated by a number of passages laid out with metal handrails and staircases.
3. The Brèche Imbert ladders
After approximately 6 km walkyou reach one of the the most impressive passages of the tour : the Brèche Imbert ladders.
This is a metal staircase with 252 stepsThis is the only way for walkers to negotiate a steep gradient. The descent can be dizzyingBut the equipment is solid and safe.
💡 Council : Take your time and hold on tightly to the ramp so that you can descend safely.
4. Passage du Gué de l'Imbut and Tunnel du Baou
After the ladders, the path again winds between cliffs and rivers, passing several wooded areas and rocky beaches where you can take a break and dip your feet in the water.
At about 11 kmthe Baou Tunnelan underground passage of 110 metres long. It is totally obscureso it is necessary to provide a headlamp to cross it safely.
5. Arrival at Point Sublime
The last few kilometres are gradually increasing until arrival at Point Sublimea spectacular viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the exit from the Gorges du Verdon.
